From an unscheduled walkabout in Amsterdam – I had only a few hours of daytime available so made the best of what I had.
Missed a flight in 2015, which led to an unexpected layover in Amsterdam. I am not one to let a walkabout opportunity go to waste. This is one work from that adventure.
It was cold and the sky was overcast – and I was running around, trying to make the best of the few hours of daylight I had. Thankfully, Amsterdam is a treasure trove of wonderful visuals.
All tables set and ready for patrons to fill. Upstairs at Bar Hortera, Latina Barrio, Madrid, March 2018.
Madrid, March 2018, La Latina Barrio, upstairs at Bar Hortera – I was too early to experience the night life at that fluo/glitter bar – Spaniards don’t even think about a night out until most of us are already in dreamland.
For this one, I still went heavy on textural accidents, but wanted to convey a feeling of a world-reality bubble.
From a quick stop in Burford, UK, around 2015, if memory serves.
Work started in 2015 – kept the wrinkled sky because I love the effect.
Part of my HIP series – for Hypertonal Impressionistic Painting – this quaint café in Budapest.
A painting started in 2015 and more or less finished in 2018 – Berlin in Winter impression, enhanced because the reality wasn’t nearly as interesting as this ;o)
From a walkabout in the historical Jewish quarter, south of Krakow Old Town.
Played around a little bit on this new take from my Nafplio painting.
