From an unexpected layover in 2015
Missed a flight in 2015, which led to an unexpected layover in Amsterdam. I am not one to let a walkabout opportunity go to waste. This is one work from that adventure.
It was cold and the sky was overcast – and I was running around, trying to make the best of the few hours of daylight I had. Thankfully, Amsterdam is a treasure trove of wonderful visuals.
Waiting for Patrons
All tables set and ready for patrons to fill. Upstairs at Bar Hortera, Latina Barrio, Madrid, March 2018.
A few minutes before owners set the room for the night patrons
Madrid, March 2018, La Latina Barrio, upstairs at Bar Hortera – I was too early to experience the night life at that fluo/glitter bar – Spaniards don’t even think about a night out until most of us are already in dreamland.
For this one, I still went heavy on textural accidents, but wanted to convey a feeling of a world-reality bubble.
Magical door in Burford, UK
From a quick stop in Burford, UK, around 2015, if memory serves.
Storm coming in Burford UK
Work started in 2015 – kept the wrinkled sky because I love the effect.
Café in Budapest
Part of my HIP series – for Hypertonal Impressionistic Painting – this quaint café in Budapest.
More appropriately – Alice in Berlinland
A painting started in 2015 and more or less finished in 2018 – Berlin in Winter impression, enhanced because the reality wasn’t nearly as interesting as this ;o)
Rouge – Part of my StreetArt work
A bit of experimental work, quite different from my HIP pieces, exploring how an image can communicate various feelings or impressions. Meaning is in the eye of the beholder.
