A painting started in 2015 and more or less finished in 2018 – Berlin in Winter impression, enhanced because the reality wasn’t nearly as interesting as this ;o)
Unseasonably cold, but the Spaniards are as warm and welcoming as they come. Had a wonderful time, albeit brief, in this wonderful city.
Cava Baja and Cava Alta are bordering streets of what used to be the walled city of Madrid, a long time ago. They are now in what is called the Latina Barrio, the Latina Quarter, if you will. Nice, very trendy, touristy and all around fun. Night life is the best there.
Raining in the beautiful city of Madrid so I had to find an option quickly. It is also unseasonably cold for the end of March. It is Semana Santa next week!
I’m at Bee Beer, on Augusto Figueora 30, a cool place that serves craft beers and fine cheeses. In the afternoon they play rockabilly. Life could be worse.
Been here a while, waiting for the dogs of rain to stop their mischief and got to work on this still life. Well, didn’t stay still too long! I worked as I munched and now my only souvenir is this piece 😉
Szimpla Kert is a romkocsma, which means ruin pub in Hungarian, located in the Jewish Quarter of Budapest. I fell in love with the place. The term “ruin” is not used lightly – the whole place, particularly this room, looks like it was taken over by deranged squatters.
My own particular, very subjective and surrealistic take on the Szimpla Kert ruin bar in Budapest. When I went there, it was love at first sight. This is one small area on the first floor of the romkocsma, (means ruin pub in Hungarian), located in the Jewish Quarter of Budapest.
Obviously a day capture. The night scene here is a different beast. The animations (quite a few if you look closely) represent how I see that place. I would definitely have made this pub my personal hangout if I lived in Budapest!
Guessing this was the delivery vehicle for the restaurant.
I loved the colour matching the exterior wall, and the red of the break and reflector lights matching the interior wall.
From a walkabout in the historical Jewish quarter, south of Krakow Old Town.
Played around a little bit on this new take from my Nafplio painting.
An animation from a painting of the Yew Tree, a pub in Alresford, Hampshire, in southwest England which was a very nice find!

First one is a MP4, better quality but you have to set your player to loop for the effect to last more than 6 seconds – second one is an animated gif, which loops on its own, but is not as high def as the MP4.
From an original painting I created after a walkabout in Warsaw some years back. Time flies!
An animated piece reaches out to you, giving an illusion of experience that much closer to having been there. Of course, I still prefer the painting, which I’ll eventually publish here. In the meantime, warm yourselves by the fire in Warsaw’s Old Town.
